    Multimodal Approach to Emotion Recognition for Enhancing Human Machine Interaction - A Survey

    Emotions are defined as a mental state that occurs instinctively rather than through voluntary effort. They are strong feelings triggered by experiencing the joy, hate, fear, love and is followed by some physiological changes. Emotions play a vital role in social interactions and facilitate the decision making and perception in human being. Emotions are conveyed through speech, facial expression or by physiological signals. There are 6 emotions which are treated as universal emotions: anger, happiness, sadness, disgust, surprise and fear. This paper projects different emotion recognition systems which aim at enhancing the Human-Machine interaction. The techniques and systems used in emotion detection may vary depending on the features inspected. This paper explores them in a descriptive and comparative manner. Further the various applications that adopt these systems to reduce the difficulties in implementing the models in real-time are contemplated. Also, A multimodal system with both speech and facial features is proposed for emotion recognition through which it is possible to obtain an enhanced accuracy compare with the existing systems

    Iris Biometric Watermarking for Authentication Using Multiband Discrete Wavelet Transform and Singular-Value Decomposition

    The most advanced technology, watermarking enables intruders to access the database. Various techniques have been developed for information security. Watermarks and histories are linked to many biometric techniques such as fingerprints, palm positions, gait, iris and speech are recommended. Digital watermarking is the utmost successful approaches among the methods available. In this paper the multiband wavelet transforms and singular value decomposition are discussed to establish a watermarking strategy rather than biometric information. The use of biometrics instead of conservative watermarks can enhance information protection. The biometric technology being used is iris. The iris template can be viewed as a watermark, while an iris mode of communication may be used to help information security with the addition of a watermark to the image of the iris. The research involves verifying authentication against different attacks such as no attacks, Jpeg Compression, Gaussian, Median Filtering and Blurring. The Algorithm increases durability and resilience when exposed to geometric and frequency attacks. Finally, the proposed framework can be applied not only to the assessment of iris biometrics, but also to other areas where privacy is critical

    Splines in Compressed Sensing

    It is well understood that in any data acquisition system reduction in the amount of data reduces the time and energy, but the major trade-off here is the quality of outcome normally, lesser the amount of data sensed, lower the quality. Compressed Sensing (CS) allows a solution, for sampling below the Nyquist rate. The challenging problem of increasing the reconstruction quality with less number of samples from an unprocessed data set is addressed here by the use of representative coordinate selected from different orders of splines. We have made a detailed comparison with 10 orthogonal and 6 biorthogonal wavelets with two sets of data from MIT Arrhythmia database and our results prove that the Spline coordinates work better than the wavelets. The generation of two new types of splines such as exponential and double exponential are also briefed here .We believe that this is one of the very first attempts made in Compressed Sensing based ECG reconstruction problems using raw data.

    Histology of lung cancer: experience from a tertiary care centre in South India

    Background: Lung cancer is a leading cause of mortality worldwide and is increasing at an alarming rate in developing countries. Inspite of advances in treatment, prognosis of lung cancer is extremely poor. It is because of delayed presentation and difficulty in obtaining histological diagnosis. Histological confirmation is difficult in all cases due to the limited biopsy specimen obtained via bronchscopy / transthroacic biopsy. Primary objective was to study the histology of lung cancer at a tertiary care centre in South India. Secondary objective was to study association between smoking habit and histological type of lung cancerMethods: Cross sectional study conducted at Tertiary teaching hospital, South India in 100 patients with suspected lung cancer. Data on symptoms, smoking status, histological diagnosis were recorded using a structured questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done on the data collected. Chi square test was used to assess the statistical significance.Results: Total 100 lung cancer patients with histopathological diagnosis were included in the study. In the present study, histopathologically 90% of the patients had non-small cell lung cancer and 10% had small cell type of cancer. In male patients squamous cell carcinoma was the most common diagnosis, and majority were smokers. In female most common type was adenocarcinoma (40%).Conclusions: Adenocarcinoma (41.9%) was the commonest histological type in our study and this was the commonest histological type seen in females and nonsmokers

    Isoxazole is an azole with an oxygen atom next to the nitrogen. Isoxazole rings are found in some natural products, such as ibotenic acid and also found in a number of drugs, including COX-2 inhibitor valdecoxib. Furoxan, a nitric oxide donor is containing isoxazolyl group & found in many β-lactamase resistant antibiotics, such as cloxacillin, dicloxacillin and flucloxacillin. The synthetic androgenic steroid danazol also has an isoxazole ring. The substituted isoxazoles are well developed in literature to posses significant biological activities. The disubstituted and trisubstituted isoxazoles have been reported to exhibit broad range of biological activities such as antimicrobial activity, analgesic activity, antiinflammatory activity, antioxidant activity, anticancer activity, CNS activity, antitubercular activity and miscellaneous activities like GABA agonistic activity, inhibitory activity, antihypertensive activity, and glutamate transporter activity.     Vacant Parking Lot Information System Using Transfer Learning and IoT

    Parking information systems have become very important, especially in metropolitan areas as they help to save time, effort and fuel when searching for parking. This paper offers a novel low-cost deep learning approach to easily implement vacancy detection at outdoor parking spaces with CCTV surveillance. The proposed method also addresses issues due to perspective distortion in CCTV images. The architecture consists of three classifiers for checking the availability of parking spaces. They were developed on the TensorFlow platform by re-training MobileNet (a pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)) model using the transfer learning technique. A performance analysis showed 88% accuracy for vacancy detection. An end-to-end application model with Internet of Things (IoT) and an Android application is also presented. Users can interact with the cloud using their Android application to get real-time updates on parking space availability and the parking location. In the future, an autonomous car could use this system as a V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) application in deciding the nearest parking space

    EDUKASI INISIASI MENYUSU DINI TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN SIKAP IBU HAMIL DI RSIA PERTIWI MAKASSAR

    Inisiasi Menyusu Dini (IMD) merupakan salah satu faktor keberhasilan ASI Ekslusif. Pencapaian IMD di Indonesia masih sangat rendah, hal ini disebabkan rendahnya pengetahuan ibu dalam pelaksanaan IMD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang IMD. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi eksperiment dengan desain onegroup pretest-posttest. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah semua ibu hamil dengan usia tujuh-sembilan bulan, tehnik pengambilan sampel adalah accidental sampling dengan jumlah sampel 60 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang diberikan kepada responden sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Analisis data menggunakan uji McNemar. Hasil penelitian, terdapat pengaruh edukasi yang diberikan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang IMD dengan nilai p< 0,000, pengetahuan kurang sebelum edukasi yaitu 93,3% menjadi menjadi 21,4% setelah edukasi, artinya terjadi peningkatan sebesar 78,6% ibu hamil yang memiliki pengetahuan kategori cukup. Sikap ibu hamil sebelum edukasi yaitu 65,0% yang positif. Meningkat menjadi 98,3% setelah post dua, peningkatan sikap ini menunjukkan significant dengan nilai p<0,000
